Student Centered Conferences

Level Up Academy will be conducting Student Centered Conferences on Thursday, April 16th from 2:00pm to 8:00pm and Friday, April 17th from 8:00am to 2:00pm.

Student Centered Conferences at Level Up Academy are very different from a typical parent-teacher conference. Instead of a typical conference where parents and teachers talk ABOUT a child, during our conferences, families and teachers talk TO the child. We come together as a team of support for each child. First, we CELEBRATE the child's strengths and learning. Next, we SET GOALS together. Then, we commit to specific ways to SUPPORT the child in their learning.

All students ATTEND conferences. As students learn and grow, they take a more active role in their conference. By the time they leave middle school, students are able to lead their own conferences! Our alumni have told us that this process helps them prepare for high school by reflecting on their learning, and advocating for themselves with their teachers.

In order for Student-Centered Conferences to go well, we need to follow the agenda--CELEBRATIONS, GOALS, and SUPPORT. Instead of saving all of your questions and concerns for your child's conference, please reach out directly to teachers and schedule a time to meet if you have concerns. We'll do the same!
